Part 11 of the CPR
conveniently sets out simply and clearly important rules relating to applications to
challenge the court's jurisdiction or to invite it, as a matter of discretion, not to
exercise jurisdiction which it possesses. Many of these rules had been developed in
judicial decisions and so had to be gleaned from scattered case reports. Readers are
